Women ROCK! International Women's Day at West Hill

If you're a woman, this means you! If you're a man, this means you, too... This Sunday is our Women ROCK! gathering, an opportunity to pay tribute to all those women who have and continue to influence our lives.

In honour of the 115th International Women's Day (celebrated around the world on Saturday, March 8), we will be having our traditional Women ROCK! celebration. It also happens to be the date that we had booked Andrew Welch to come back into the hall for his traditional 'different' perspective on things. Feeling most unqualified to deliver this particular topic, Andrew turned to the Worldwide Web for help, and will share with us his trip down the Women ROCK! rabbit hole.

First Reading - Rear Admiral Grace Hopper, USN

"The most important thing I've accomplished, other than building the compiler, is training young people. They come to me, you know, and say, 'Do you think we can do this?' I say, 'Try it.' And I back 'em up. They need that. I keep track of them as they get older and I stir 'em up at intervals so they don't forget to take chances."

Second Reading - Mette Frederiksen to Volodymyr Zelensky

"The best thing about heroes is that they always win in the end, and if they aren't winning, then it's not the end.  I said to you three years ago that Denmark stands with you all the way and we will never, we will never go away from that point of view.  We have to stand with Ukraine and we have to stand with our continent. [...] My guess, is that we have a couple of months to make all neccessary decisions.  Otherwise, we'll be too late, and being too late cannot be the conclusion.  [...] Slava Ukraini."
